THE single term tenure for the President and governors being proposed by President Goodluck Jonathan has not been jettisoned, presidential spokesman, Dr Reuben Abati, has announced.
Fielding questions during an interaction with State House correspondents yesterday, Abati dismissed media report that the President has dumped the proposal, challenging the writer to come up with evidence.
He reiterated that what the President talked about was a proposal and it remains a proposal, adding that the reactions that have trailed it so far are healthy for the polity. However, he said the proposed Bill would now be submitted to the National Assembly in September when the members resume from recess. His words: “My immediate reaction is to tell the people that how do you withdraw something that has not been tabled? It is a proposal and still at the level of proposal.
